Biz Markie Drops 140 Pounds, Says He “Wanted to Live”: See Before and After Pictures

Getting healthy for the new year! Biz Markie has dropped a whopping 140 pounds — and says he's not done yet. The rapper and DJ explained that he began to lose weight three years ago when he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

"I wanted to live," the 50-year-old recently told ABC News. "Since I have to be a diabetic, If I didn't make the changes, it was going to make the diabetes worse. I'm trying to get off [the Diabetes medication]. The way you gotta do it is lose the weight. I'm off half my meds, I just got to get off the rest."

"They said I could lose my feet," he continued. "They said I could lose body parts. A lot of things could happen."

Biz Markie eats organic now while he's on tour to maintain his slimmer figure, and plans to lose about 10 more pounds in 2015. The weight loss, he says, has also helped him in his professional life.

"When I used to be on stage, I used to be out of breath. I couldn't walk that far," he told ABC News. "Now, I got so much energy. I can do a whole show."
