It’s a hard-knock life. Kim Kardashian‘s daughter, 16-month-old North West, could very easily have everything handed to her for the rest of her life, but that’s not what her mom, 34, wants for her. The reality star, whose famous family is a multimillion-dollar empire unto itself, said in a new interview that her little girl will have to work for what she wants as soon as she’s old enough to get a job — just like Kardashian herself did prior to becoming a mega-famous TV personality.
“I saved up for this Dolce & Gabbana dress I really wanted, or like in high school these Prada shoes that my parents wouldn’t buy me,” Kanye West‘s wife told the London Standard‘s ES Magazine in an interview to be published in full on Thursday, Oct. 23.
She continued: “I remember they were $400, and I had to save for the entire year to get them…We didn’t get anything [from our parents], we had to get a job if we wanted it. So I was working in a clothing store, and I would save and save.”
Nori may have more glamorous options available to her than retail, but Kardashian insists she’ll know the value of hard work. “I was saying that earlier to my friends, ‘I wonder what [North’s] first job is gonna be,'” she mused to ES Magazine. “And they were like, ‘What? She’s gonna have a job?’ And I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? Of course she is.’ She will have to work for what she wants.”
Kardashian has some ideas for her daughter’s future career, based on things North likes now, but she doesn’t want to limit the possibilities. “I don’t know,” the Dash mogul said of her little girl’s path. “She loves fashion. Maybe she’ll be a designer. Who knows? It’s too early to tell.”
