From a rat in a cage to the House of Mouse! Smashing Pumpkins rocker Billy Corgan took his Mellon Collie self to the Happiest Place on Earth, aka Disneyland, where he traveled back in time to the Wild, Wild West of the 19th century.

The “Being Beige” singer, 48, was photographed front and center on the park’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride in Frontierland on Thursday, July 23. Seated in the first row behind the locomotive, Corgan squinted in the sun as he white-knuckle gripped the safety bar in front of him with both hands.

Corgan and the rest of the Smashing Pumpkins are currently on tour with Marilyn Manson to promote their Monuments to an Elegy album. The veteran band will be on the road through Aug. 9, with dates in Atlanta, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, and Nashville still ahead.

The stop at Disneyland was on a rare day off for the singer — and he certainly seems to have made the most of it.

Incidentally, Corgan mentioned the Magic Kingdom in an interview earlier this year, as part of an attempt to explain the difficulties of listening to music as a musician rather than as a fan. “It’s part of the problem of being a songwriter. Once you go there you hear every song from the point of view of how the songwriter that you’re listening to is engaging you,” he told Loudwire.

“It’s a little bit like going to Disneyland and looking at all of the rides from the perspective of the construction as opposed to joy,” he continued. “I don’t know. It’s hard for me to listen to songs clearly anymore…In many ways I don’t listen to popular music like I used to. I mostly just listen to classical music.”
