Bruce Jenner Building “Glam Room” Amid Gender Transition: “We’re Totally Going to Rock This Place!”

Bruce Jenner revealed during his powerful 20/20 special with Diane Sawyer on Friday, April 24, that he hopes to build a "glam room"

Bruce Jenner is ready to show the world who he really is. The star opened up his home — and his closet — for Diane Sawyer during his powerful two-hour 20/20 special on Friday, April 24. The former Olympian, who said he first tried on a dress when he was 8 or 9 years old, showed the ABC journalist one outfit in particular that he owns.

The moving moment took place at Jenner's Malibu home back in February. The pair briefly left his living room to tour his closet area, which led Sawyer to point out how he had a separate area for his male and female clothes.

"But in the next house I am building a glam room," Jenner said excitedly. "We're going to totally rock this place!"

The 65-year-old then pulled out a gorgeous black dress that he would later wear during a private — and off-camera — dinner with Sawyer. "And the good news Diane," he quipped, "is you won't be the tallest girl in the room—isn't that wonderful?" (In a voice-over, Sawyer said: "And by the way, that night [at dinner], she looked great and really happy.")

Jenner is looking forward to the day he goes public with his physical transformation. He added, with a laugh: "[It'll be nice to] be able to have my nail polish on long enough that it actually chips off."

Jenner and Sawyer's interview was filmed over a three-week period in February. During the chat, Jenner's mother Esther gave a video message in support of him.

"I want you to be happy and I love you. I was very proud of you when you stood on that podium in Montreal," she said of his 1976 Olympic triumph. "I never thought I could be more proud of you but I'm learning I can be."

One person Jenner would have liked to share this time with as well is his father William, who passed away 14 years ago. Sawyer asked Jenner what he thinks his father's reaction may have been. "Ooh, Diane. That's a tough one," he tearfully said. "Wonderful human being but…he loved me. I wish I would've told him. I think it would've been tougher for him than probably anybody."

"What would you want him to say to you?" Sawyer asked. Jenner replied: "That he loves me."
