Gold star for the folks in blue at the Dover, Delaware police department! Four months after Officer Jeff Davis lip-synched his way to 34 million YouTube views through his "Shake It Off" dashcam confessional clip, the department is again showing their love for Taylor Swift — and one of her very special fans.
One of the messages the PD received after Officer Davis' video was from Delaware teen Victoria Marsh, one of Swift's biggest fans. The department was so moved by the 13-year-old's letter that it offered her tickets to a local Swift concert, but found out in April that Marsh wouldn't be able to attend because she was undergoing chemotherapy treatments for a recently diagnosed bone cancer, osteosarcoma. (Marsh did the very selfless thing of giving her tickets to her sisters.)
When Marsh's mom, Karen, told the officers about her family’s plight, they did something even cooler than offering tickets. In an effort to help the teen, who also has Down syndrome, the police department (along with Marsh's mom) created a video that tells Marsh's story — and they hope it will go viral enough so that Swift will set aside time at an upcoming Philadelphia-area concert to meet her.
Using the hashtags #SwiftAWish and #TeamVictoria, the video also shares the story of Marsh's resilience during her cancer fight, the amputation of her leg, and frequent hospitalizations. "Taylor's music plays all night in my room on repeat. And when I can, I still dance to her music," the video, in Marsh's voice, said. "The police helped me make this video in hopes that Taylor will see it and come visit or FaceTime with me when she’s in Philadelphia. Will you help me make this wish come true?”
