Even in the paradise of the Bahamas, Gwyneth Paltrow is enduring a tough week — but she's been struggling for years, while raising her children with now-estranged husband Chris Martin. The Oscar winner revealed earlier this month that raising a family while working in Hollywood tends to be a lot tougher than working the normal 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. gig.
"It's much harder for me," Gwyneth, 41, told E! News recently. "I feel like I set it up in a way that makes it difficult because — for me, like if I miss a school run, they are like, 'Where were you?' I don't like to be the lead so I don't [have] to work every day. I have little things that I like and obviously I want it to be good and challenging and interesting and be with good people and that kind of thing."
"I think it's different when you have an office job, because it's routine," she continued. "You can do all the stuff in the morning and then you come home in the evening. When you're shooting a movie, they're like, 'We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks,' and then you work 14 hours a day and that part of it is very difficult. I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course there are challenges, but it's not like being on set."
The GOOP blogger announced her separation from the Coldplay frontman, 37, on March 25. The pair have been married for more than 10 years, and are parents to daughter Apple, 9, and son Moses, 7. The Iron Man star stated that the split is a "conscious uncoupling," which is a practice developed by bestselling author Katherine Woodward Thomas. It's a method that helps couples slowly breakup in a healthy way over the course of a 5-week program.
As previously reported, the family is currently in the Bahamas during this difficult time. But once they return, Paltrow plans on getting back to work in some capacity. "I have a rule about one movie a year, so I can't shoot anything for a while," she added to E! News. "But I'm developing some material and working on the site [Goop] and raising kids."
