Evans’ attorney Amy S. Lawrence exclusively spoke to Us Weekly on Wednesday, May 27, about the incident, offering insight on what caused Evans to allegedly go off on her ex.

“I can confirm that there is a warrant out for Jenelle’s arrest for criminal domestic violence, stemming from an incident that happened last night,” Lawrence tells Us. “She is not taking any charges out on him.”

Lawrence also reveals she has spoken with Griffith, who claims he didn’t initially want to press charges on his former fiancee, but was pressured to by police.

“He will do everything that he can to get these charges dismissed for Jenelle,” Lawrence continues. “He understands that she’s hurt because they’ve broken up, and he’s dating somebody else and things escalated in a way they shouldn’t have. But he does not want her to have any kind of criminal consequence for this.”

Evans, who has been arrested more than 10 times in the past five years, called the cops on Griffith back in March for domestic violence charges, and since then the parents of baby Kaiser have been split.

Kaiser is currently in Griffith’s custody, and Evans’ other son, Jace, has been in the care of her mother, Barbara Evans, for several years.

“We are going to turn Jenelle in tomorrow morning, and we’ll have her bond hearing tomorrow afternoon in Myrtle Beach City,” Lawrence adds. “They’re also going to work out a custody plan as well.”

As for Evans’ claims that Griffith ran over her with his truck, Lawrence says that Evans did not require medical treatment.

“She’s just…I think that in her heart she thought that maybe with them breaking up that they would get back together because they have a child together,” Lawrence explains. “And I think she’s just very hurt that he has moved on.”
