Jerry Seinfeld is struggling to come to terms with Joan Rivers' untimely death, and is devastated the much-loved comedienne won't be appearing on his show after all.
Seinfeld revealed that the Fashion Police star had agreed to take part in his hit web series Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee before her tragic passing on September 4.
Taking to his show's Facebook page, the comedian shared with fans the sadness he felt as he came across an old text confirming Rivers' excitement to be a lead guest on the show.
"I just came across this heartbreaking text on my phone from August 19th," the 60-year-old funnyman wrote. "I had asked Joan Rivers to be our lead guest on the new season of Comedians in Cars, and she was thrilled," he explained.
"Then we got a call saying she was going in for a medical procedure and needed to postpone," he added.
Rivers' death came a week after that medical procedure, following complications during a routine operation on her vocal cords at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic on Aug. 28.
“I would have loved to have shown another side of her, I wanted to tell her how much I admire all she had accomplished, especially in the latter stages of her career,” Seinfeld added. “She was one of the greats. I'll miss her,” he said.
