Jerry Seinfeld is no stranger to grouchy neighbors. And the actor and comedian encountered a real-life Newman situation while in East Hampton, N.Y., on Tuesday, Aug. 18, when his son’s lemonade stand was shut down by cops.
A local paper reported that Seinfeld, 61, was helping his son raise funds for his wife Jessica’s clothing charity Baby Buggy by way of a classic lemonade stand when unhappy neighbors filed complaints to the police.
“Lemonade dreams crushed by local neighbor, but not before raising lots of money for @loverecycled,” Jessica captioned a fun photo of Jerry, their son Julian, and two friends smiling with their hands behind their heads in surrender. “Thanks to all of our customers and big tippers! Thanks, Xander and Jaden, for crushing it today with Julian and Jerry.”
According to the report, police received a complaint about illegally parked vehicles around the lemonade stand, which violated the area’s very strict policy against peddling in East Hampton.
But all was not for naught.
All proceeds from the lemonade sale will go to Baby Buggy, which helps “provide essential clothing, gear, and services to families in need nationwide.”
