Lady Gaga has revealed she suffers a daily battle against depression and anxiety, not helped by society's obsession with cell phones.

The "Poker Face" hitmaker opened up to Billboard magazine about her personal struggles, hoping her admissions will help her fans realize they're not alone with any anxiety or depression they suffer.

"There is something in the way that we are now, with our cell phones and people are not looking at each other and not being in the moment with each other, that kids feel isolated," the 29-year-old said. "They read all of this extremely hateful language on the Internet. The Internet is a toilet. It is. It used to be a fantastic resource—but you have to sort through sh-t to find the good stuff."

The singer, who launched her own nonprofit in 2012 for struggling teens, called the Born This Way Foundation, explained that the deep emotions she feels on a regular basis are not something to deny, and revealed that her foundation is currently investigating why constant cell phone watching appears to create unhappiness.

"I’ve suffered through depression and anxiety my entire life, I still suffer with it every single day," she continued. "I just want these kids to know that that depth that they feel as human beings is normal. We were born that way. This modern thing, where everyone is feeling shallow and less connected? That‘s not human."

It's not the first time Gaga has opened up about experiences with sadness. Back in 2014 the singer, who is engaged to Taylor Kinney, revealed she was so low a few months previously that she was struggling to find even a glimmer of hope.

"I became very depressed at the end of 2013. I was exhausted fighting people off," Gaga told Harper's Bazaar in February of that year. "I couldn't even feel my own heartbeat. I was angry, cynical, and had this deep sadness like an anchor dragging everywhere I go. I just didn't feel like fighting anymore. I didn't feel like standing up for myself one more time — to one more person who lied to me."
