The tension between Leah Messer and her ex-husband Corey Simms on the Teen Mom 2 reunion special on Oct. 7, was definitely real. A source close to the West Virginia mother tells Us Weekly that the pair can’t stand each other.
The reunion special saw an emotional and dramatic reunion between Messer, Simms, and his current wife, Miranda. Throughout the course of the episode, it was revealed that Messer, 23, has a serious mental health disorder that left her briefly hospitalized and that she and Simms had “relations” while he was married to Miranda.
“Things happened that shouldn’t have happened and it was disrespectful to Miranda and I have apologized,” Messer admitted during the episode. “That’s the only time that I disrespected her.”
But Simms and the pregnant Miranda were a united front throughout the episode, which was filmed in July, admitting they’d talked to people all over town about Messer’s alleged pill problem.
“She is really hurt by this,” the source continues. “She’s not perfect and she knows that but she’s doing so well, and she loves those kids more than anything. Leah’s considering putting Gracie and Ali into therapy.”
The source also notes that Leah’s trying to get her life back on track after her month-long stint in rehab this summer.
“Leah is doing great, actually. She has actually grown as a person,” the source says. “Leah is not on pills right now. She’s not on drugs. She’s doing so well.”
The source adds that Messer has gotten support from her ex-husband Jeremy Calvert, who is the dad to their 2-year-old daughter, Addie. Though he’s moved on and is dating someone new, Calvert has remained on Messer’s side with the Simms battle, even though he seemingly teamed up with Simms on the show.
“Like Corey and Jeremy would ever set up a time to sit and chat? That’s all production,” the source says. “Jeremy knows she’s a good mom.”
