After Blake Lively revealed that Martha Stewart saved her "disaster" of a wedding to Ryan Reynolds, fans wondered how the 26-year-old actress and the 72-year-old lifestyle guru became such close pals—and now we know!
Stewart, whom Lively called her "idol" in a recent interview with Vogue, told Huffington Post they became fast friends after Lively and Reynolds became her neighbors.
"She moved into my neighborhood a couple of years ago with Ryan—before they got married, they bought a house right around the corner from my house. And they started to come over, not to borrow sugar, but just as friends," Stewart revealed to the site, adding that the couple, who then moved to "another place which is more private [but still nearby]," are "very friendly, very nice people."
"In a way, [Blake's] kind of shy—not shy on the screen, at all, if you've seen any of Blake's movies—but very shy in person," she said of the Age of Adaline actress. "But she's a baker and a homemaker and now she's starting her own blog [Preserve] … I haven't seen it yet."
Asked how she feels about Lively venturing into the lifestyle business and "becoming the next Martha Stewart," the how-to guru replied, "Let her try."
"I don't mean that facetiously!" she then said, laughing. "I mean…Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress? I just did a movie yesterday, though—I can't even tell you about it—but I want to be Blake Lively," she joked.
Other celebs Lively's pal is envious of?
"Every day I get starstruck by somebody or something," Stewart admitted. "It's fun to admire and to learn from people who are better at everything than you are, so I have many heroes I worship, like Derek Jeter—I can't play baseball like Derek Jeter! And Beyonce—I certainly can't dance and sing like Beyonce!"
