Aw, man! Magic Mike actor Gabriel Iglesias claimed in an interview with Dish Nation on Thursday, June 19, that Matthew McConaughey is likely not returning for the upcoming Magic Mike sequel, Magic Mike XXL.
“All they’re telling me—because they haven’t shown me the whole script yet—is that they’re taking the show on the road…so something tells me it’s not going to be shot in Florida like the last one,” the comedian, who played a strip club DJ and drug dealer in the first stripper installment, said.
Iglesias went on to drop quite the bomb, claiming McConaughey, who starred in the first flick as strip club owner Dallas, likely isn’t set to return.
“Word has it Matthew is probably not going to be involved in this one,” Iglesias said.
His reason why? “Because he’s worth a lot of money,” the actor said, going on to laugh, “that whole Oscar thing, the nerve right?” in reference to McConaughey scoring his first Oscar for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.
Magic Mike XXL is slated to be released in July 2015.
