NeNe Leakes Says “The Hate Is Real” Between Her and The Real Housewives of Atlanta Cast

Girl, bye. Despite what appeared to be a friendship-mending chat on the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the ever-outspoken NeNe Leakes insists that her relationship with Cynthia Bailey is irreparable. During an appearance on HuffPost Live on Dec. 16, Leakes talked about her damaged friendship with fellow Housewife Bailey, and revealed that the rest of the cast has been less than supportive of her current Broadway billing.

“I’m not friends with Cynthia, now or never…” said Leakes. “When you break my trust to that degree, unfortunately for me, I can’t move forward and maybe it’s something that I need to pray about, but I honestly cannot move forward with you.”

Leakes, 47, said she felt “blindsided” by Bailey’s betrayal, and said she loved The Bailey Agency founder, “like a sister.” Leakes, the only surviving cast member who’s been on RHOA since season one, compared the situation to a bad romantic relationship.

“To me, it felt like you were dating a boyfriend, and then he leads you on and on,” she explained, “and you come home one day, and he is like ‘no, I moved out and I moved in with my new girlfriend.’ And you’re like ‘what happened I thought we were good?’”

Leakes’ relationship with Bailey, 46, isn’t the only sour friendship between the Atlanta Housewives. “The hate is real, the hate is really real,” Leakes revealed.

NeNe Leakes in Cinderella

The actress and mother of two is currently starring alongside Keke Palmer as Madame, Cinderella’s evil stepmother, in the current Broadway revival of Cinderella. Leakes told HuffPost Live, however, that none of the Atlanta Housewives have been to see the show, which wraps in January.

“As of today, no Housewife of Atlanta has been to the Cinderella broadway show, while I was in it…” she said. “All of the other franchises, New Jersey, New York, Orange County, the Housewives have been there.”

While Leakes admits that the Georgia peaches have had their differences, she would always support them in big endeavors, and has in the past.

“If they don’t want to come it’s fine, because I’m killin’ the character,” she said, laughing.

The former Glee star also talked about her many beloved and ridiculous “NeNe-isms.”

“When I said the word ‘the thirst is real,’ I was talking about a certain someone being thirsty, so thirsty, that they were willing to do anything to be around, or do anything to be in the public’s eye,” she said.

Leakes is even selling shirts with that phrase, and others. “It has carried on and got a whole new life of its own!”
