Nicholas Brendon Wants Dr. Drew’s Help, Buffy Star Says He’s Battling Depression

Nicholas Brendon reached out to Dr. Drew via Twitter asking for help with his depression.

Nicholas Brendon wants to get better. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum, 44, took to Twitter in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 4, asking his fans to help connect him with Dr. Drew.

"If anyone sees @drdrew, have him give a call. Could sure use a pep talk :/ #depressionisreal #helpisoutthere #keepfighting," Brendon tweeted to his more than 90,000 followers. 

He later added, "It could be @drdrew, @DrPhil  or Dr You…support from the Tweeps is appreciated #sos #itsthemiddleofthenight #momentbymoment #keepfighting," also noting, "need doctors lawyers and accountants, oh my #keepfighting #depressionisreal #ItGetsBetter #right?"

The actor, who rose to fame playing Buffy Summer's best pal Xander Harris on the hit TV show, has been struggling with substance abuse issues and run-ins with the law in recent months. In early June Brendon entered a treatment facility for help with depression, alcoholism, and substance abuse.

When one fan urged him to seek professional help, the actor replied, "been to treatment, but feeling like more time is needed. Working on it. Don't worry, still sober." 

Brendon has been arrested three times in this calendar year alone, had a short-lived Las Vegas wedding to Moonda Tee, and another rehab stint last fall.
