Shia Labeouf announces performance art exhibit "#Metamarathon"

It finally makes sense why Shia LaBeouf has been dressing head to toe in neon spandex recently — well, sort of. The Transformers actor announced on Twitter that he'll be performing in a performance art exhibit later this week titled "#Metamarathon" at modern and contemporary art museum Stedelijik in Amsterdam.

After documenting the amount of miles he's been running on Twitter via the Nike+ app, LaBeouf cryptically tweeted a definition of "Run" on Sunday, Sept. 21.

"RUN: to move swiftly on foot; to PROCESS or execute a PROGRAM or instruction; an unbroken series of PERFORMANCES," he wrote alongside an image of himself running in his beloved purple spandex leggings. On Monday, Sept. 22, LaBeouf announced: "#METAMARATHON at the @Stedelijk Amsterdam 09.25.14."

The museum, which tweeted back at the actor "it's happening," also confirmed the exhibit with the mere explanation: "Shia LaBeouf will embark upon a metamarathon around the perimeter of the Stedelijk Museum. Visitors are invited to participate. Running shoes optional. Starts at 2:00 p.m."

This isn't the first time LaBeouf has dabbled in the arts. The 28-year-old made headlines this past February when he arrived at the Berlin premiere of his flick Nymphomaniac with a paper bag over his head which read in black sharpie marker: "I Am Not Famous Anymore." LaBeouf — and his paper bag — held a free art exhibit titled "#IAMSORRY" days later in Los Angeles, where he sat silently in a room with strangers and cried.
