This is not a test! Syfy's Sharknado movies may look like just campy made-for-TV fluff, but franchise star Tara Reid says there may be some kernel of truth in them. The American Pie actress told GQ recently that she believes a sharknado—a waterspout of shark-infested seawater—is at least a possibility, however distant.
"You know, it actually can happen," she said. "I mean, the chances of it happening are very rare, but it can happen actually. Which is crazy. Not that it—the chances of it are, like, you know, it's like probably 'pigs could fly.' Like, I don't think pigs could fly, but actually sharks could be stuck in tornados. There could be a sharknado."
So what, exactly, would one do in such a catastrophic event? Well, the Sharknado 2 cast actually has some ideas about that. "Get yourself the biggest, badass chainsaw you can find and hope for the best," franchise hero Ian Ziering quipped.
Mark McGrath, meanwhile, suggested Ziering himself was the best weapon against a sharknado. "You have to stay calm, okay? Because everybody else is freaking out," he advised GQ. "And you have to be good friends with Ian Ziering. If you're part of Ian's group, you got a 50/50 chance of survival."
Uh, any practical advice, guys? "Definitely go to the top of a roof, get some bombs, and make sure you have on an awesome, powerful wetsuit," Vivica A. Fox told the mag.
Remember, too, that it could be worse. "The most terrifying tornado would probably be full of lawyers," Ziering joked.
