Tracy Morgan steps out with a cane following his June 2014 car accident

Tracy Morgan is on the mend but still relies on the help of a cane to walk. The 30 Rock alum stepped out to do some shopping with his fiancée Megan Wollover and their daughter in New Jersey on Monday, March 30, almost one year since he was hospitalized following the tragic car accident that left his pal James McNair dead.

The 46-year-old funnyman — who suffered a broken leg, broken femur, broken nose, and broken ribs following the accident — was relying on the use of a walker just this past December. In February, Morgan showed signs of improvement when he used his cane to walk into a rehab facility in New Jersey. At the time, a source close to the star told Us that he’s eager to recover and get back to work.

"If Tracy could be out, acting and doing what he loves, he would be — 100 percent," the insider told Us. "But sadly, he just can't yet."

Morgan’s most recent outing comes after his friend James McNair’s family reached a settlement with Walmart. According to the AP, the comedian’s family was issued $10 million from the company, whose driver, Kevin Roper, was driving the truck which plowed into Morgan’s limo in June 2014.

Roper has since been charged with death by auto and other offenses in New Jersey state court but has not yet been indicted. Morgan, for his part, filed a lawsuit against Walmart for “careless and negligent ownership and operation of its motor vehicle.” The corporation then filed a countersuit, claiming that Morgan was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred.
