Zayn Malik has left his lads, but not the music. Three days after announcing his departure from One Direction, the British heartthrob was spotted leaving his North London home — with his guitar in tow — on Saturday, Mar. 28.
The 22-year-old singer looked gloomy in a red plaid shirt and coat, and kept his locks up in a tight bun. He also carried a backpack.
Millions of hearts shattered earlier this week when One Direction released a statement revealing Malik’s exit. On Mar. 27, he broke his silence to his supportive fans.
“I did try to do something that I wasn’t happy doing for a while, for the sake of other people’s happiness,” he told British newspaper The Sun. “It is crazy and wild and a bit mad. But at the same time, I’ve never felt more in control in my life. And I feel like I’m doing what’s right — right by myself and right by the boys, so I feel good.”
He continued: “My band has been really supportive. They’ve been cool about it. And they understand that, you know, it’s not real to me anymore.”
As previously reported, Malik has wasted no time getting back into the studio though. On Thursday, Mar. 26, he collaborated with Naughty Boy behind closed doors. Meanwhile, his former bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson will continue to travel and perform on their On the Road tour.
