With the 2014 Emmys just days away, celeb stylist Micaela Erlanger (who helped catapult Lupita Nyong'o to the top of the year's best dressed lists) tells Us Weekly just how she's preparing for the red carpet on Aug. 25.
"The Emmys red carpet is one where you can have a lot of fun and take some risks when it comes to gowns and outfit choices," Erlanger, who will be dressing her longtime client and Emmy nominee Michelle Dockery, tells Us.
The celeb stylist, who partnered with Dove for the Emmys, says red carpet prep begins in the shower. "Exfoliate, and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!" she says. "I have a real appreciation for products that yield gorgeous results, and I personally love to use new Dove Body Wash. I get softer smoother skin after one shower!"
Erlanger may spill the beans on the products she suggests for radiant skin, but she's tight-lipped on the exact look for the Downton Abbey leading lady nominee. Whichever gown she chooses, Dockery will be following Erlanger's three red carpet rules: "Stand up straight, smile with confidence and wear heels you can walk in."
That last rule doesn't stop at her clients' feet either. "I always lean towards a comfortable red carpet dress, because no one wants to be worrying about wardrobe malfunctions," she tells Us. "They should be enjoying the evening and have a wonderful time feeling confident in what they have on."
