Serious question!
On Friday, March 6, Kanye West and Lorde attended one of the best fashion shows of every season (Christian Dior) in one the most beautiful cities on the planet (Paris—j’adore!). So why do these two look like the saddest people in the world?
The “Royals” songstress, 18, and the “Only One” rapper, 37, in matching all-black ensembles, appeared definitively dour while standing outside the Cour Carree du Louvre, where one of the most anticipated fashion events of the season was about to be hosted. (You think they’d at least brighten up thanks to their shared love of Taylor Swift, no?)
Why so serious? As he’s said himself, West, who wore a sweatshirt, hates smiling. (“Not smiling makes me smile.”) Lorde, on the other hand—well, perhaps it can be chalked up to teenage angst.
But it must be noted that the New Zealand-based beauty turned her frown upside down once she went inside. The “Team” crooner, who was last spotted partying it up with BFF Swift at the 2015 Golden Globes, shared her front-row seat with Hailee Steinfeld, who finally got her to flash an ear to ear grin.
Lorde (who was actually wearing a sequined Dior dress, they just couldn’t shine before!) also posed with Fifty Shades of Grey‘s Dakota Johnson, who stunned in an off-the-shoulder top and pants by Dior, teamed with a very Anastasia Steele-esque, messy updo.
