Now that’s a hat! True to form, Sarah Jessica Parker turned heads on Monday, May 4, at the 2015 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit, which is commonly known as the Met Gala.
The Sex and the City star, 50, who has been known to experiment with avant-garde looks in the past, made a bold statement in an enormous cherry red Philip Treacy Custom headdress made up of what looked like giant flames with matching red tassels.
To go with her statement piece, the fashionista wore a one-shoulder black gown with a high leg slit that was designed by her in a collaboration with H&M. It was embellished with a large red flower and patchwork runner and a Cindy Chao brooch. The footwear-loving actress wore shoes from her own collection.

Vogue tweeted a video of Parker’s look, writing, “Leave it to @SJP to start the night off with a bang #MetGala.”
Parker teased her look on Instagram earlier in the evening, in a series of posts.
This year’s Met Ball theme is “China: Through the Looking Glass,” and is supposed to be a celebration of Chinese art and style.
