Time to say goodbye! Busy Philipps is just as sad as you are about the Cougar Town finale tonight. The actress joked with Us Weekly that she can’t even remember what happens in the episode because she was crying too much while filming it.
“I blocked it all out, I was crying too hard,” she teased on the March 18 red carpet for Hollygrove and JAKKS Pacific’s 4th Annual Norma Jean Gala Fundraising Event.
She was kidding, of course, but it was a very emotional experience for the cast. “I mean, I guess just having that realization that this is it and we’re never going to be on those sets anymore and on that stage together,” she revealed. “It’s really hard! So many great shows ended this year that had really awesome runs and we were among them, I think. It’s just hard to say goodbye to your buddies.”
It’ll also be difficult for fans who followed the comedy from ABC to TBS to bid adieu to the cul-de-sac crew, Philipps said, but the ending of the show’s sixth and final season will be satisfying.
“I think people are going to be really pleased with the way the show ends. It feels really perfect to me,” she revealed. “I’m excited for people to see it. It was emotional for us on set. You know, I think it will be emotional watching it.”
One thing’s for certain: Make sure you have wine in your very own Big Chuck/Carl/Tippi handy — the cast definitely did!
“I think that last shot we may have been drinking some real wine, yeah,” Philipps revealed.
The Cougar Town finale airs Tuesday, March 31 at 10:30 p.m. ET on TBS.
