Drugs, arrests, and pet pigs — it’s another day on Teen Mom 2! During the Thursday, Aug. 27, episode of the MTV hit, all four girls had their share of issues to deal with — well, except for Chelsea Houska, who literally was flying in baby pigs to spice up her story line.
But it was once again Leah Messer, whose downward spiral sent her on the way to rehab this week, who had the most dramatic moments.
Here’s what happened:
Jenelle Evans
Jenelle was once again at a Crossroads — and not the fun Britney Spears kind. She had to choose between being in her mom Barbara’s good graces as her custody case for Jace continued or getting back together with Nathan Griffith, who was arrested in last week’s episode for domestic abuse. (Guess which road she took.)
“No abuse happened,” Jenelle claimed to her friend. “He didn’t kick me down the stairs, he didn’t punch me, none of that. He didn’t physically cheat on me either. None of us have. I need to see a dramastic change.” (Yes, she used the word “dra-mastic,” and we’re sorry to report it wasn’t the first time.)
A distraught Barbara came over to Jenelle’s house for a helping of biscuits and gravy and some sage wisdom. When she tried to talk about her own abusive relationship, Jenelle fought back, saying that Barbara just kept Jace away from her out of spite.
“I did not keep Jace away from you because I was mad,” a tearful Babs said. “I was concerned.”
But Jenelle’s mind was made up. The lovesick mom decided she wanted to make things right with her fellow jailbird. Unfortunately, he turned the tables on her, telling her to date other people before deciding if they should be together.
“I want you and only you,” Jenelle cried on the phone. “Don’t make me go out and find someone else.” To quote the North Carolina native’s pal from a previous episode: “Oh Jenelle, when will you find peace?”
Kailyn Lowry
There’s a new kid on the block, and he goes by the name Jo “Nerd In a Cool Kid’s Body” Rivera. That’s right, Kailyn’s ex moved into her development in Delaware during this week’s episode, which prompted Kailyn and her husband, Javi Marroquin, to consider moving into a new house.
“Joe’s moving into the development and we’re moving out of the development, but I don’t feel bad because we’re not going to be far,” Kailyn said.
Ever the good guy, Javi rode a comically small bike over to Jo’s new house to help him move in. When Kailyn asked about their former feud, Javi replied, “Psh, that was so three years ago!”
Jokes aside, Kailyn was still nervous that Jo moving into town would affect her current custody arrangement.
“I just want to keep everything the same. Isaac is used to the schedule he has,” she told her friend. Stay tuned for when Jo’s girlfriend Vee moves into town!
Chelsea Houska
Now that her custody case with ex Adam Lind was over, Chelsea was in hog heaven…literally. She and her boyfriend, Cole DeBaur, had decided to buy a pig together and name him Pete.
“We’re getting a pig together! I’ve waited my whole life for this,” an excited Chelsea gushed in the car.
“This moment of getting a pig,” Cole clarified.
“With a lover and a friend,” Chelsea said. “Everyone else thinks we’re weird. But I think everyone else is weird.”
They picked up the squealing Pete at the airport, but little did Cole know that he was taking on more responsibility than just a pet.
“We have a child now,” Chelsea declared. “Don’t make me be a single mom again. I wanted this for so long. I waited till I was with someone who said I could do it.” Fortunately, Cole doesn’t seemed phased by this new declaration, and the foursome — complete with Chelsea’s daughter, Aubree — happily spent time with their newest addition in his pigpen of a room.
Leah Messer
Not everything was sunshine and baby pigs in Leah’s world. The troubled mom headed to a treatment facility in this week’s episode.
Though she described it as “a more intense therapy,” Leah did accidentally call it rehab several times. She met with her ex-husband Corey Simms and his wife, Miranda, to figure out a living situation for Corey and Leah’s twin daughters in her absence.
“Do you think that after you go to this rehab you’ll be able to be better?” a concerned Miranda asked.
“I’m not going to say I was a bad mom,” Leah said, defending herself. “There is no drug problem.”
But Corey was not convinced.
“I think I know that there’s a drug problem and I think you’re afraid to tell me,” he said.
“Shame on you,” was Leah’s only response.
Later Corey and Miranda talked about Leah’s denial, which seemed pretty obvious as she fell in and out of consciousness while holding a baby relative in one scene.
“The rumor around town she takes anything she can get her damn hands on,” Corey said, angry at the mother of his children.
But Leah was trying to focus on saying goodbye to her children for a month, which was no easy task as they screamed, cried, and ran to hug her one last time.
“I have to leave my babies for a month,” Leah tearfully told her mom. “But I know I have to do this for them. The happy person I used to be is fading away. That means I can’t be the mom I want to be for them. The person I know I could be and I will be again is crying for help inside me.”
